At Cheery Lather, we carefully select the ingredients we use in our bars. We select what is beneficial to the skin rather than the overall appearance of the soap. Below is the list of ingredients we use and benefits of each ingredient to the skin. We source our ingredients from reputable Australian suppliers and we use ingredients that are Australian Certified Organic when possible.

Due to the limited space in our packaging boxes, we are only able to denote that the ingredients are "organic". But rest assured that the label in our packaging means that it is Australian Certified Organic.

Carrier Oils

Australian Extra Virgin Olive oil makes an ideal hard, long lasting soap with a gentle cleansing lather. It's perfect for all skin types including sensitive skins and will help you feel refreshed after each use! Australian EVOO also contains high levels oleic acid which conditioning agent helps soften your complexion.

Australian Certified Organic Camellia Oil is not your average beauty oil. It contains a variety of vitamins and minerals that are beneficial to the skin, such as Vitamins A & E which help combat free radicals in our bodies while also providing antioxidant properties for protection against environmental damage like UV rays or pollution particles.

Australian Certified Organic Coconut Oil is an excellent moisturizer for both your skin and hair. The properties of the coconut oil also help remove dead cells away from body, leaving you with refreshed feel every day!

Australian Certified Organic Castor Oil is a popular skin care ingredient because it contains Ricinoleic acid, which helps fight acne-causing bacteria. Plus castor oil makes soap bubbly and foamy when you lather up with it!

Australian Certified Organic Cocoa Butter helps neutralize free radicals throughout the body, particularly in the skin. This butter especially targets skin problems like wrinkles or age marks because of its ability to reduce oxidative stress in tissues which causes these issues over time!

Australian Certified Organic Shea Butter is known to be a very rich emollient that prevents skin from drying out. It's particularly useful for dry and aging types of skins which can easily become flaky or cracking with time due the harsh environment we live in.

Australian Certified Organic Jojoba Oil is a popular alternative treatment for all skin types, especially those with oily or acne-prone skins. It helps unclog pores and reduce the symptoms of damaged, dry aging and inflamed conditions including eczema psoriasis. For hair care, it is natural moisturiser and helps repair damaged hair. It also contains vitamins that help promote healthy strands, like vitamin C or B-vitamins which can reduce frizziness.

Australian Certified Organic Argan Oil provides powerful conditioning and strengthening benefits to dehydrated hair, as well as excellent moisturising properties to help restore and restructure dry, chapped skin.

Broccoli Seed Oil contains  fatty acids that help to give a glossy shine to hair. It is light so it penetrates the hair easily, it does not leave greasy feeling.

Baobab Oil is a nutrient-rich natural remedy that can help promote hair growth. It contains collagen producing properties as well as antioxidants, omega 3 fatty acids which protect against follicle damage caused by free radicals.

Rice Bran Oil works to repair damage and brittleness, providing deep hydration and strength to weak, dry and unruly hair. Helps with hair growth, whilst soothing irritations and preventing dandruff.

Clays

White Kaolin French Clay is used to purify, cleanse and detoxify the skin, remove dead skin cells, balance skin oils (sebum), calm inflamed and acne-prone skin, and create and overall refreshed appearance. Known for its toning, soothing and softening effects.

Purple Brazilian Clay helps nourish and detoxify skin, working to eliminate waste such as impurities, oiliness and dead skin cells to promote healthy looking skin.

Pink French Clay is used to purify, cleanse and detoxify the skin, remove dead skin cells, improve skin softness and create and overall refreshed appearance. It can also be used to treat acne and sun damaged skin. It is well suited for all skin types, particularly sensitive and mature skin.

Essential Oils

The essential oil blend used in our bars are minimal. Only up to the recommended percentage of use in soap bars. Below are descriptions of each essential oil we use.

Bergamot works to stimulate skin cell renewal, redistributing skin pigments for an even and toned complexion. It has naturally powerful antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, making it an effective tonic for blemishes and bacterial induced pore clogging.

Cedarwood Atlas helps with acne, and wounds as it contains antiseptic properties.

Lavandin Grosso helps contribute to an anti-aging effect by regenerating and improving the skin's firmness.

Lavender is naturally anti-inflammatory and antiseptic, and it can soothe sunburns and reduce scarring. Generally helps reduce skin inflammation and treat skin conditions

Lemon has an antibacterial quality that helps to cleaning the skin and getting rid of bacteria. It helps to stay away from acne and pimples and keep the skin healthy and soft. 

Lime has antibacterial properties which helps with skin irritations like acne.

Mandarin is known for many healing properties. For instance, mandarin essential oil is useful in helping to reduce acne, brighten the skin, alleviate insomnia, reduce oily skin, diminish the appearance of scars and age spots and minimize stress and wrinkles

Orange helps promote the production of collagen as well as increase the blood flow to the skin. It is helpful at soothing dry, irritated skin as well as acne-prone skin.

Roman Chamomile is perfect for sensitive skin, soothes irritated skin, calms down inflammation, helps minor cuts, burns, sunburns, is antibacterial, great for acne and breakouts.

Rose Geranium designed to balance and rejuvenate normal, dry, and maturing skin. Rose geranium is reputed to offer a wealth of beneficial properties for the skin and senses, including improving skin cell regeneration, balancing sebum levels, and easing tension.

 

Extracts

Colloidal Oatmeal suppresses the need to scratch, which is especially useful for irritated, dry skin. It adds a soothing feeling and gentle exfoliation to handmade soaps.

Calendula Extract has antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that is useful in healing wounds, soothing eczema, and relieving diaper rash.

Rosemary Extract is a natural antioxidant and naturally extends the shelf life of Cheery bars.

Others

Activated Coconut Charcoal (from coconut husks) is known for its cleansing and purifying benefits. It binds with dirt and other impurities on the skin. Ideal for acne prone skin.

Sodium Lactate is produced by fermentation of a sugar source, such as corn or beets. Moisturises the skin and helps you enjoy harder and longer lasting bars.

Tapioca Starch is used in our products to retain scent of essential oils. 

Behentrimonium Methosulfate is a sulfate-free, vegetable-source conditioner derived from the colza plant.

Ceteryl Alcohol is plant-based fatty alcohol

 

Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein is plant-based protein that is easily absorbed into the hair shaft that adds volume, shine to your hair.

Vitamin B5 that plant-based and effective for improving hair structure, adding lustre as well as moisturisation.

Vitamin E that is derived from Soybean Oil. Helps to reduce inflammation which can reduce signs of premature ageing as inflammatory conditions in the skin are a leading cause of skin ageing. It is also an excellent moisturiser and helps to soothe irritations, keeping the skin looking healthy and soft.

Phenoxyethanol (And) Caprylyl Glycol (And) Sorbic Acid globally approved liquid preservative developed for paraben and formaldehyde-free preservation. It is plant-based that is effective protection against bacteria, yeast and mould growth.

Mica is coloring agent derived from a natural stone mineral.

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is a natural ingredient that is derived from coconuts, specifically coconut oil. It is a mild cleanser that is gentle on the scalp.

Cetearyl Alcohol is a vegetable derived product that is a mixture of fatty alcohols, consisting of Cetyl and Stearyl Alcohol.

Stearic Acid is a vegetable derived fatty acid, most commonly used to thicken and stabilize cosmetic formulations.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine is derived from Coconut, mild surfactant that creates foam.

Decyl Glucoside is a nonionic surfactant that is extremely mild and gentle. It is naturally derived from fatty alcohols from coconut oil and glucose from corn starch.

 

Bamboo Extract is known for its scalp-soothing properties, improves blood circulation in the scalp, strengthening hair follicles and promoting the growth of a thicker hair.

Seaweed Extract is natural hair growth stimulant that contains high levels of silicon to renew skin cells and amino acids which stimulate follicles. It also helps moisturise your hair while giving them shine, so you can have long flowing locks.

Green Tea Extract Green tea extract is a plant-based antioxidant that can help protect against damage from free radicals. Great for scalp health and reduce dandruff.
